TRUSU Math Club Events 

COVID – 19 Safety Measures  

Note: this document will be used as a guide for multiple events organized by the Club, for a specific structure event go to the specific section.  All members of the club must be familiar with the document.

All club sponsored events will be held in-person on TRU campus with possible streaming online for viewers (with participants’ consent). 

Vaccine Cards: all participants/volunteers of the events of the TRUSU Math Club (later: Club) must be fully vaccinated (at least 2 doses). If you are not a member of the club, to have access to the event you will be asked to show your BC Vaccine Card together with any piece of ID showing your name. Club members do not have to show it ONLY in the event of being on the official Club member list. To get on the official Club member list you must attend at least one Club meeting and show your BC Vaccine Card together with a piece of ID to the leaders of the Club (President or Vice-President).  

Health Assessment: all volunteers and participants of all club’s events are required to do a self-assessment prior to arriving on campus and will not attend if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 (https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en). 

Type of Club events: 

  • Talks 

All listeners will have to remain seated during the talk, following the social distancing rules and having a mask or equivalent approved by BCCDC. The speaker might decide to take their mask off. In this case, they must follow social distancing from all the listeners.  

  • Integration Bee 

Everyone must sanitize or wash their hands prior to entering the room of the event. All viewers/participants of the event which are not participating in the round must remain seated. Everyone except the host must have their mask or equivalent approved by BCCDC on for the entire event. The host might decide to take their mask off while speaking. In this case, they must follow social distancing from all viewers, participants, and jury. 

  • Math Battle Tournament  

All participants and volunteers will be asked to sanitize or wash their hands prior to entering their designated rooms. During solving hours all teams must follow the COVID-19 protocols in the rooms (social distancing, masks or equivalent approved by BCCDC on, etc.). Volunteers must make sure these rules are followed by the team. During the battle, everyone except one speaker, one opponent and one of the juries, must remain seated and follow the protocol (both math battle and PHO).  

Sanitizing: Volunteers are responsible for preparing the rooms prior to the competition (making sure there are sanitizers and sanitizing the surfaces if needed). In the end of all club events the same must be done. 

Consequences: In the event of anyone not following this document in any way, they will be asked to leave. If they refuse to leave, TRU Campus Security must be called by one of the Club’s leaders. The Club does not take responsibility for any expenses incurred in this case.
